Mercury Security and LifeSafety Power® Bring First UL-Listed System to Market

Enclosure offerings combine system power, lock power and remote power options in a listed solution

Long Beach, CA and Mundelein, IL – September 24, 2015 — Life Safety Power, Inc., and Mercury Security have partnered to bring to the systems integration community one of the first Underwriters Laboratories (UL)-Listed enclosures that includes system power, lock power and remote power options in both rack mount and wall mount configurations. The breakthrough is in the UL-Listing garnered for all integrated components within the enclosure solutions.

The FlexPower® Gemini RGM series is a UL-Listed rack mount product designed to provide both operating power and a mechanical housing for Mercury Security access control hardware. The FlexPower® MCLASS Unified Power System is engineered to house power modules alongside Authentic Mercury access control hardware in one compact, secure system.

In addition to the coveted UL Listing for the complete solution, the rack mount enclosure is configured to save space and provide installation efficiencies to save the installer time with Mercury panels, system power and optional lock power included in a single housing. Now, the installer can mount Mercury Security access controllers in a 19-inch rack environment suitable for four doors and easily expandable in four-door increments. The Gemini RGM series simplifies system design—a four-door system with battery standby can be housed in 4U, 16-door in 8U and more up to the limit of the controller’s door capacity. In addition, LifeSafety Power network modules can remotely monitor the power to both the Authentic Mercury panels and locks to increase reliability and detect potential problems before they happen or as they occur with notification via email, smartphone or web-based device.

Frank Gasztonyi, Chief Technology Officer of Mercury Security, says installers and specifiers can now be offered a UL-Listed access control and power solution to couple with numerous systems that provide labor and wall-space savings. “Mercury Security leads the industry with access control features and functionality.  This enclosure and power solution allows multiple arrays of Authentic Mercury controllers to best fit the site with UL certification, providing flexibility to both the installer and specifying community in a host of different vertical markets,” he says. In addition, smart power solutions from LifeSafety Power give systems integrators the ability to provide valuable, proactive service to their customers, including remote testing and servicing.

“The combination of the UL-Listing of the prestigious Mercury Security controller in a complete solution gives systems installers the highest level of compliance for their end-user specifications,” says Larry Ye, President and Chief Executive Officer of LifeSafety Power. “The ability to combine system power, lock power and remote monitoring in a complete, intelligent solution is groundbreaking and extremely beneficial to systems integrators and users.”

FlexPower/Mercury specification details

The FlexPower MCLASS Unified Power System is a wall-mount configuration that saves installation time by combining system power and Mercury Security panels in a single, integrated and listed enclosure, simplifying wiring and labor. This saves the expense of mounting and wiring separate enclosures and AC drops for lock power, and reduces wall space with a smaller enclosure footprint. A removable back plate mounts power and Mercury controllers, making wiring faster and easier for additional labor savings. For maximum design flexibility MCLASS enclosures come in a variety of sizes to accommodate door count and wire management preferences by the integrator. MCLASS also offers the ability to provide remote monitoring and servicing benefits such as diagnostic tests of remote battery load testing and power recycle.

Mercury Security Achieves PSIA Compliance; Provides OEM Partners with “Plug-and-Play” Access Control Products

Company Is The First with a Commercially Available Product to Receive Certification for All PSIA Access Control Profiles

LONG BEACH, CA July 7, 2015 – Mercury Security, a global leader in the supply of OEM access control hardware, today announced it is the first company with a commercially available product to receive certification in all three Physical Security Interoperability Alliance (PSIA) Area Control Profiles: Access Control, Access Control Flexible Authentication Option, and Access Control-Host Managed Access Grant Option. The specifications support interoperability in a multiple-system, multiple-vendor access control environment, enabling security administrators to manage a singular view of all access control and intrusion systems (and devices) that are integrated via PSIA Area Control open standards.

The PSIA is a global network of physical security manufacturers and integrators focused on promoting interoperability between access control and other security solutions. Certification is achieved by passing extensive testing via the PSIA Profiles Test Tool, which validates if a product or system fully complies with either or all three of the Profiles to ensure “plug-and-play” interoperability.

“Not every manufacturer supports every use case covered in the Area Control Specification, which makes Mercury’s compliance with all three of our comprehensive Area Control Profiles a major milestone for PSIA,” said David Bunzel, Director at PSIA. “I am impressed by Mercury’s dedication to the rigorous compliance process; this achievement reinforces their leadership position in delivering truly open and interoperable products to the market.”

PSIA compliance provides the added assurance that Mercury Security solutions are optimized to harmonize and share data between access control, intrusion, video and analytics systems for a systematic approach to true access control. Certification for Authentic Mercury hardware also continues paving the way for OEM partners to lower their customers’ cost of ownership. It eliminates the need for heavy customization, thus accelerating system development and implementation.

“Compliance with the PSIA Area Control Profiles takes the value of the Authentic Mercury open platform to a new level,” said Frank Gasztonyi, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at Mercury Security. “For over 20 years, Mercury has been committed to providing innovative security technology to our OEM partners, helping them develop best-in-class access control systems. PSIA certification is an important benchmark in Mercury’s relentless mission to offering partners the most open and interoperable products to meet their customers’ evolving requirements.”

Mercury products also support OSDP, BACnet and several common Internet and network standards, to ensure our partners can build reliable and scalable solutions that meet the dynamic requirements of their customers.
