Frank Gasztonyi Chief Executive Officer, Chief Technology Officer
Recognizing the tremendous potential in a component-based approach to security systems design and manufacturing, Frank co-founded Mercury Security Corp. in 1992, along with Mercury Security Chief Financial Officer Hing Hung.
Their strategy has always been a simple yet successful one, modeled after the evolving personal computer industry: pioneer specialty components, hardware with embedded features, to efficiently add powerful functionality to end-products and systems. Today Mercury is recognized as the security industry’s dominant source for system controllers, readers and embedded access controls, supporting and securing more doors than any other access control supplier in the business.
Frank brings more than 20 years of security system engineering experience to the Mercury leadership and is responsible for overseeing product-firmware planning and engineering, firmware development and customer agreements.
Prior to founding Mercury, Frank directed security firmware design and development as a consultant for a security systems start-up. Previously he served as the manager of firmware engineering for Communication Manufacturing Co., (CMC) an early leader in security and access control technology. During his CMC tenure, Frank led the launch of 4 distinctive access control product lines, bringing to market highly advanced products for their time such as scrambled keypads, encrypted communications, the integration of biometric verification, and dual-keypad and redundant communications to increase performance and reliability.
From the start, Frank’s electrical engineering background has provided insight and innovation. He began his career as an engineer with Rockwell International, where he engineered and developed secure communication devices for defense contracts.
Frank holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from California State University, Long Beach.
"From early on, we have always focused on building the common security platform that affords our customers the greatest combination of reliability and versatility."
Hing Hung Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice President
As a co-founder of Mercury Security in 1992, Hing now oversees operations, finance and vendor relations as well as long-term product planning, purchasing and overall product engineering. Throughout his 20-year career in the security business, Hing has focused on devising hardware that meets not just today’s tough security demands, but tomorrow’s as well.
Prior to starting Mercury, Hing engineered hardware and firmware solutions for a security systems start-up following 7 years as the senior engineer for Communication Manufacturing Co. (CMC). While at CMC, Hing was often challenged to devise new, high-security feature sets to meet current and anticipated threats – effectively pioneering security solutions that were never before available. Based on that experience, Hing brings to every Mercury customer a creative approach to problem-solving, broad knowledge of how peripherals are best manufactured, and deep understanding about what customers need in the field.
Hing began his career as an engineer with Racal Dana Instruments. He holds a B.S in Electronic Engineering Technology from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and a M.S.in Electrical Engineering from California State University, Long Beach.
"Mercury management has grown together as a very tight team and while we each know all aspects of the business, we share a single vision to constantly improve the features, functionality and utility of security hardware."
