Applying the Two Man Rule |
|
Mercury’s intelligent access panels possess a great many features that are available to be enabled by our OEM host community. The Two Man Rule is one of these valuable features. Scenario: Client has a portal equipped with cameras used to gain entry to a facility. A valid access request is suspended while the event is sent to the HOST for secondary authorization by the system’s operator after visual verification that cardholder is valid.
The Mercury definition: Two Man Rule is a physical access control application requiring that an otherwise valid access request must be approved by the system operator at the control terminal for every entry at specified Access Control Readers. The Mercury answer: Using the Mercury EP 1502 or EP2500, it is possible to configure a setting to the reader indicating that the Two Man Rule is in effect and access upon card presentation requires further intervention. Transaction log entry of the pending valid access request is posted to the HOST computer. After operator analysis of the request, a response is sent to the EP controller indicating if the access is authorized or not. |
